Job Details

The Senior Automation Engineer shall have shown the ability to specify, design, program, and test automation and control systems for various industrial facilities. Ideally, they shall have served customers in the Oil & Natural Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Food and Beverage, Steel, Water/Waste Water, Power Generation, and/or Specialty spaces. They must be able to initiate customers, grow relationships through first person interactions, lead teams to execute projects, and routinely exceed expectations. Essential Functionso Responsible for the specification, programming, integration, and implementation of various control systems including DCS/PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms and applicationso Lead I/O and loop checks, as well as all commissioning and startup activities, including progress reports, meetings, and punch-listso Lead projects from conception through commissioning and startupo Lead a team of engineers to execute scope within budget and maintain go-live commitmentso Visit job-sites to evaluate projects and define scope in order to develop proposals from walk-downso Develop and support proposal development according to scope definitiono Assist with change order scope, control, and developmento Review vendor drawings for compliance with project specificationso Read, understand, and translate P&ID's and electrical drawings into a DCS/PLC/HMI applicationo Interact and communicate effectively with customers, vendors, engineers, and managemento Interact with other engineering departments to develop and review drawings, specifications, and scopeo Understands the importance and adherence to project budgets and managing the budget within a given timeframeo Familiarity to specify, design, program, and test Automation Systems, not limited to, but including:o PLC: SIEMENS, ALLEN-BRADLEY, EMERSON ROC, MODICON, TRICONEX, GEo DCS: CENTUM VP, PCS7, DeltaV, ABB 800, HONEYWELL, PlantPAxo HMI: WinCC, Cimplicity, Wonderware/Archestra, Ignition, Beijer, FactoryTalk

Qualificationso Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, preferably from an ABET accredited institutiono Minimum 10+ years in a technical leadership role on Automation and Controls projects, including Commissioning and Startupo PE or Master's degree in related Engineering field a pluso Automation System training/certification a pluso Ability to execute and lead multiple projects simultaneouslyo Ability to generate and maintain a schedule for projectso Experience configuring control systems for various industries and facilitieso Understands many other aspects of Industrial Automation, including roles of BPCS and SIS, Instrumentation, Communication protocols, and Networking and Cybersecurityo Ability to independently find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problemso Ability to comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessaryo Ability to lead in a team oriented environmento Excellent grammar, punctuation, and etiquette desiredo Willingness to learn new platforms and new technologieso Must be very organized, detail oriented, with the ability to identify outliers quicklyo Demonstrated field troubleshooting ability, both electrically (panel) and logically (PLC/DCS)o Ability to follow and perform work in accordance with company and customer HSE policyo Ability to travel to customer sites as required, with travel expectations averaging around 25%
