THE POSITION
The PA Department of Transportation has a Clerical Assistant 2 position available in the Bureau of Office Services. This position is responsible to pick up and deliver interoffice mail on all Department of Transportation floors of the Keystone Building on a pre-established schedule. This position will also identify and deliver mail on a daily basis to the Main Capitol, and other State and Federal Office locations in the Capitol Complex and the Harrisburg area.If this sounds interesting to you, apply today to join our team!DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Responsibilities of this position include the following:
Provides professional appearance and friendly service at all times.
Monitors the equipment and postage allotments for Keystone building.
Operates all mail-related equipment used in everyday operations.
The position is required to cross train all other mail room functions for maximum staff coverage.
Must be able to ship packages using the UPS computer system.
Ensures all mail is picked up and delivered timely to both internal and external customers.

Work hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
This position is in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (Dauphin County). You must be willing and able to work in this location.
You must have six (6) months of experience as a Clerical Assistant 1, employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's license.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Requirements (not required):
Level of education: Associates degree or higher, some college, high school diploma or GED.
Completion of a high school business curriculum.
Experience working in a mail room.
Experience in an office environment.
Experience in customer service.
Experience in varied office clerical work.
Experience with answering telephones, emails, compiling reports, data entry, filing and opening mail.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
