Position Description: The Senior Clinical Informatics Analyst will serve as a data wrangling specialist on a team of technologists working on large-scale informatics projects for Penn Medicine.

The candidate will lead and guide the analysis and integration of complex data sets within the health system at Penn Medicine with emphasis on patient care impact, clinical outcomes, quality improvement, and research. Recommend future enhancements and development methods for data displays and data portals.

The candidate will lead projects, and provide timely and comprehensive project status updates to management. Develop concepts, approaches, and strategies to integrate data. Serve in a lead role in outlining requirements and data displays concepts. Ensure that the provided information meets all clinical and business requirements of the organization, project sponsors, and the end-users. Initiate and lead meetings with the end users, stakeholders, team-members to ensure that data analysis and integration has been done appropriately. Contribute with ideas and solutions.Work with cross functional teams and Penn Medicine clients by providing education on system functionality, and configuration of new tools to increase the end user productivity within the application. Ensure system changes follow clinical workflow, change management procedures, and protocols. Create and maintain all documentation for all assigned dashboards, and develop, plan and execute testing for supported dashboards. Communicate all necessary application changes, enhancements, and procedures to all necessary internal and external department teams. Advise, train, and mentor junior team members.

The Clinical Informatics Analyst primary job function is to support the delivery of patient care by leading system-wide projects that range from managing quantitative analysis assignments to assisting in the design of advanced data technology solutions (data warehouse and universes) that harness the full benefit of our Epic electronic medical record system. The role supports physicians, clinical staff, researchers and/or business teams with innovative and creative analytical solutions in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner, and clearly communicates findings to stakeholders with a focus on accurate documentation for training and replication purposes.

Aligns with Penn Medicine Information Services to establish and maintain clinical business intelligence infrastructure and processes to support analytics including data governance. Collaborate with other key analytics teams, clinical quality, finance, marketing, and IS to develop culture, skills and tools for data analytics in centralized function across the system. Participates in the data governance function.

The position develops and directs clinical analytics in support of transforming care and driving value in value based payment programs in primary care. The position partners and aligns with leadership of Medical and Hospital groups, and collaborates with Corporate including PMO, Strategic Planning, Finance, Quality and Information services.

The Analyst delivers content that is clearly presented, user friendly, accurate, and supportive of a patient-focused delivery system.

Minimum Requirements: The Senior Clinical Informatics Analyst

Required Education and Experience• Bachelor of Science in Computer/Information Science, Bio/Medical Informatics, Statistics, or related field is required.• Current Internal Penn Medicine Information Services division employees may be considered with proof of active and continued enrollment in an approved bachelor degree program• Minimum of 10 years of working experience with at least 5 directly within the healthcare field

Required Skills and Abilities• Comprehension of basic medical terminology preferred• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills • Experience with SQL query writing and technical understanding preferred• Computer programming and scripting required. Experience with R and Python preferred.• Basic statistical analysis and data visualization• Excellent verbal and written skills • Must be able to function well as part of a team and provide a high level of quality service to clients

The Clinical Informatics Analyst

Required Education and Experience• Bachelor's Degree inComputer Science, Business Administration or Health Information Management, or related area is required.• Current Internal Penn Medicine Information Services division employees may be considered with proof of active and continued enrollment in an approved bachelor degree program• 5+ years of experience in the health care industry in some combination of the following functional areas: physician practice operations, clinical analytics, health plan, multi-facility health system, or accountable care organization (ACO) settings Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications• Epic Certifications as required by Information Services to support department needs. Certification will be offered and provided by Penn Medicine and must be obtained within 6 months of role entry and within three (3) exam attempts.

Required Skills and Abilities• Communicates effectively with all levels of staff to exchange information, ideas, and respond to inquiries• Maintains and nurture relationships with key customers• Recognizes and works effectively in complex, political and ambiguous situations• Demonstrated successful relationship building all levels of staff, physicians and executives• Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills• Understanding of health care operations• Skilled in the use of statistical/data management software packages• Experience working with multiple technical platforms• Ability to work as part of a team• Able to deliver clear and concise presentations to varied audiences• Ability to utilize critical thinking• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities are essential• Demonstrated knowledge of data structures and relationships used in reporting historical trends, current opportunities/problems, and future direction• Intermediate to expert level SQL query writing experience

Additional Information: As part of our COVID-19 response, this position may currently be offering partial or full remote work. However, in the near future this position will require full or partial on-site work.
