Position Overview: UPMC is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Technologist to work Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., including rotating holidays. No weekends are required, but on-call duty is from 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.Career Ladder: Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects their level of education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of the offer.Key Responsibilities:

Perform imaging procedures independently, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Properly identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocols.

Review patient history, assess physician orders, and apply specific departmental protocols for optimal results.

Document patient history in electronic records as required.

Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders and department policy.

Ensure all exams are properly coded, tracked, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and charges are entered accurately.

Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, manipulation, and documentation of image data.

Interact effectively with patients and co-workers, demonstrating care, listening, dignity, and respect.

Work collaboratively within the department and with other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.

Communicate instructions clearly to patients and explain procedures to alleviate their fears and gain their cooperation.

Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification of completion and scheduled graduation date.

Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT-certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date.

CPR or BLS is required based on AHA standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
