THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a skilled environmental specialist to manage various National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System programs. As part of your duties, you will oversee multiple National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System programs for PennDOT, including overseeing the municipal separate storm sewer system, ensuring construction storm water compliance, and managing potable water and wastewater at PennDOT sites. Additionally, you will provide training and educational sessions to the public and PennDOT staff.Your role also involves critical tasks such as preparing and reviewing monitoring reports, carrying out inspections, investigating violations, and creating standard operating procedures. Full-time employment.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

This position is eligible for an alternate work schedule (AWS).

This position is located in Harrisburg, but may be headquartered at a DOT district office closest to the employee's current location if space permits.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 2; orSix years of progressively responsible professional environmental management, environmental engineering or environmental analysis experience; or

Three years of progressively responsible professional environmental management, environmental engineering, or environmental analysis experience and a Master's Degree in one of the environmental science or engineering fields; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.Other Requirements:

This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
