DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The role involves managing the reception of samples and carrying out analytical tasks. The primary focus of the position is quantitative analysis of drinking water, non-potable water, soil, pure product (COWS), and air samples for volatile and semi-volatile compounds. These analyses will be performed through the utilization of purge & traps coupled with Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and High Performance Liquid Chromatography. It is crucial to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments accurately and adhere to Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures to ensure the reliability and accuracy of results.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year as a Chemist 1; or

One year of professional chemical analytical experience, and a bachelor's degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry; or

A graduate degree in chemistry.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.Other Requirements:This particular position also requires one or more years of full-time professional experience performing quantitative chemical analysis of environmental samples, i.e., drinking water, non-potable water, solid and chemical materials, air and/or emissions, or biological tissue samples.This particular position also requires possession of six months or more of full-time professional laboratory experience operating a Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) to perform quantitative chemical analysis of environmental samples, i.e., drinking water, non-potable water, solid and chemical materials, air and/or emissions, or biological tissue samples.
