Piper Companies is currently looking for an experienced Fermentation Microbiologist in West Chester, Pennsylvania (PA) to work for an innovative and growing Biotech company. The Fermentation Microbiologist will play a significant role in the research and development of fermentation lab projects and products. Responsibilities for the Fermentation Microbiologist include: • Assist with projects including media optimization, scale-up, and process prototyping experiments, as well as providing technical consultation for the Industrial Fermentation Team. • Oversee the preparation, monitoring, and processing benchtop fermentations. This may include delegating or personally executing media preparation, probe calibration, pH adjustment, batch sterilization/autoclaving, down-stream processing, etc • Basic genetic work including PCR, gel electrophoresis, and interpretation of 16s sequencing and BLAST database reports to identify and differentiate bacteria species and strains. Qualifications for the Fermentation Microbiologist include: • A minimum of 3 years' experience with the development of medical devices or similar products • Mechanical aptitude to disassemble, reassemble, and troubleshoot benchtop bioreactors. • Experience with statistical Design of Experiments (DOE) preferred but not required. • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or equivalent coursework is required. • Experience in a fermentation scale-up lab or similar transferrable skillset is required . Compensation for the Fermentation Microbiologist include: • Salary Range is $55,000-$60,000 plus, dependent upon experience • Comprehensive benefits package
