Job Description

The Field Services Technician – Sampling is responsible for collecting and assessing soil and water samples and creating reports of results. This role will also facilitate and coordinate the movement of material from Soil, Hazardous Waste, and Dredge CE job sites, into CE and brokered facilities.

  • Coordinate directly with Field Services team for sampling assignments, scope of work and reporting.
  • Generatechains of custody (COC’s), sampling reports, sampling maps and safety forms.
  • Conduct environmental soil and water sampling for facility acceptance and continuance.
  • Coordinate with 3rdparty labs to schedule sample pickups/drop-offs.
  • Perform soil surveys and assessment to identify factors such as volume, debris and moisture content.
  • Serve as liaison in the resolution of situations where off-spec material at CE facilities is received. Facilitate communication between CE facilities and customer/site/GC/consultant and transporter.
  • Convey approvals information between job sites, facilities and corporate approvals.
  • Communicate with transporters in order to expedite communication and support the transportation department.
  • Track on-site wait times and return times, ensuring trucks follow pre-determined routes, and stay within state GVW limits.
  • Responsible for enforcement and compliance of truck drivers to all safety regulations and company guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring manifest accuracy and timely distribution.
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Daily travel to, and within, NYC, NJ, MD, VA, DC, SE PA & DE required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to traverse over uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis
  • Associates degree
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Adobe

  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER, 30-Hour OSHA Construction, Secure Worker Access Consortium (SWAC), Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), DOT Hazmat certification
  • Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate, create, and access information
  • Ability to work in a busy, often distracting work environment that is generally not climate controlled
  • Experience in creating and modifying job-related reports.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate multiple, complex projects (up to 6) while simultaneously conducting sampling at various potential, and active job sites.
  • Residency in central NJ preferred toaccommodate daily travel to NYC, NJ, MD, VA, DC, SE PA & DE.
