Job Description

General Purpose:

The Recycling Technician safely separates and packs materials for transport and completes required paperwork in accordance with our practices and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Handle waste batteries and electronics for recycling, including identification, labeling, sorting, and storage in accordance with all regulations and internal safety requirements.
  • Unload trucks, stage equipment for processing
  • Document appropriate operation in logs
  • Operate fork truck, lifting mechanisms, drum dumpers, drum and pallet jacks
  • Reliable, regular attendance/punctuality is required to meet business need
  • Assure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Unload trucks, stage equipment for processing

  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday, including items which are awkward/bulky
  • Willingness and ability to work in dirty/dusty environment where there may be strong odors
  • Willingness to work in all climate conditions, indoors and out
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a physically demanding position (e.g. warehousing, construction, military, etc.)
  • Knowledge of facility permitting, DOT packaging requirements and OSHA Regulations
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Willingness and ability to wear company-provided PPE including eye protection, safety gloves, long sleeves, and steel-toed shoes
