That puts your expertise in Technology Operations at the heart of our business.As a Lead Database Administrator, you will be joining the DBA Engineering team supporting Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and various AWS database technologies. You will work with IT partners and leaders to improve the efficiency, resiliency, production stability, automation, and reliability of Vanguard's Database infrastructure. The DBA Engineering team is responsible for ensuring the operational excellence of Oracle, SQL Server, and cloud data platforms. The team is also responsible for architecture, upgrades, administration, performance and tuning, automation, and feature/function research and development for Database infrastructure.The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of:- DBA best practices and concepts: database backup & recovery, database performance & tuning, database monitoring, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of Oracle engineered systems and experience performance tuning databases specifically for Exadata
- Strong technical knowledge in performance and tuning, and query optimization,
- Troubleshoot complex systems to identify bottlenecks (SQL, IO, hardware, query related, etc.) and resolve database related issues.
- Ability to support multiple releases, including Oracle 12c/18c/19c, Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019, and multiple cloud providers
- Designing databases and data modeling concepts.
- Strong automation and scripting skills; PowerShell, Shell Scripting, Java, Perl, Python
- Best practices for supporting mutli-cloud infrastructure, SaaS, and micro services architecture
- Great communication and documentation skills that leads to internal problem resolutions documents, lessons learned, how to, and knowledge transfer.
- Strong skills with troubleshooting, researching and resolving blocking/deadlocking, connectivity issues, data corruption, security issues etc.
- Strong working knowledge of Engineering Systems supporting RAC, ASM, and Data Guard
- Experience installing, configuring, and supporting OEM 13c
- Senior DBA in database development and supports Oracle RAC versions of 12c, 18c and 19c on a Linux platform
- Strong skills using Bash/Korn shell scripting for automation of database administration tasks and notifications.
- Knowledgeable of the Linux environment and ASM
- Experience or designed Disaster Recovery/High Availability solutions using Physical/Snapshot Standby's using Data Guard
- Experience with Performance Tuning, troubleshooting network issues, encryption (TDE/TLS), warehouse databases and partitioning.
- Strong knowledge of RMAN for backups and recovery using a catalog
- Knowledge of Oracle tools (OEM, Toad, SQL Developer, OID, CMU, DataPump, tkprof, ADDM, AWR, ASH, event tracing)
- Senior DBA in database development and support of MS SQL Server 2016/2019 environments.
- Strong skills using PowerShell for automation of database administration tasks
- Experience with Disaster Recovery/High Availability solution such as Always ON Availability Groups, Replication, and Mirroring.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, blocking/deadlocking, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
- Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Query Store, Extended Events, SQL Profiler, DMV views.
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, and DBCC commands.
- Knowledge of SQL Server tools ( Extended Events, SQL Profiler, Query Store, DTA, SSMS, SCOM, PerfMon, DMVs, Brent Ozar system procs)

- Work closely with senior developers for critical business applications/databases with the largest numbers of interfaces and users
- Resolve the most complex Production database problems
- Perform database administration for Oracle, SQL Server, and AWS databases, including installations, upgrades, configurations, and patch applications. Perform day to day monitoring, optimizing, and developer support for creation of databases, tables, and indexes. Build backup and recovery jobs.
- Recommend implementation technology to developers.
- Conduct performance analysis of applications and database management systems.
- Train and mentor staff. Resolve the most complex issues elevated from staff with less experience.
- Administer and maintain production, test, and development databases.
- Test and evaluate IT vendor products.
- Review application designs for compliance with Production acceptance requirements. Ensure backup, recovery, security, reliability, and performance of the systems.
- Provide key technical leadership and expertise in large scale projects.
- Undergraduate degree in related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience, with graduate degree, preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience supporting IT Systems with 8 Years of Oracle and Exadata Administration experience or SQL Server Database Administration
- Certification in Oracle, SQL Server, or AWS, preferred but not required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including interviewing and presentation skills.
- Strong relationship management, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Broad knowledge of the financial services industry
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and/or projects concurrently
- Flexibility, strong decision-making skills and effective time management skills
- Proven ability to work with attention to detail under tight time constraints
