FirstEnergy’s Internal Audit department seeks to grow its organization in order to effectively provide assurance and advisory services to the business and IT so it can meet its objectives.The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based the company's service territory.Candidates within the FE service territory desiring a fully remote work option will be considered; however, it is preferred the candidates are within driving distance of one of the two main reporting locations, the Corporate Office in Akron, OH or in Greensburg, PA for team meetings and collaboration, as needed. Other locations within the FE service territory (OH, PA, W VA, NJ, MD) will also be considered.This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.Responsibilities include:

Leading and executing the IT SOX program including the design and operational effectiveness testing for IT SOX processes.

Leading and executing reviews of systems, IT processes, policies, procedures, cyber security, configuration controls of existing systems as well as proposed controls of new systems, and audits in other areas as assigned to ensure completion of the annual Audit Plan

Providing consulting services to IT and business management on risk identification, and the effectiveness of the design of process and controls.

Identifying internal control gaps in processes, controls or systems, and consulting with IT and business management on appropriate remedial action.

Interacting with Internal Audit, IT, operational and financial management personnel across various functions and operating segments within the company to complete assigned audits

Employing effective decision making in resolving issues and reaching satisfactory conclusions in a professional manner.

Presenting and communicating project status and issues to Audit, IT, and Business Management.

Identifying problems and assisting with problem resolution

Leading meetings and ensuring appropriate follow-up action is taken.

Understanding and documenting business processes independently

Actively seeking ways to add value within scope of assignments with a forward-thinking mindset

Providing a high level of customer service, continuous support, and opportunities for proactive involvement of leadership and peers

Maintaining a safe, compliant and ethical workplace

Benchmarking best practices

Managing projects to be on time and within scope

Qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree is required; preferably in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

Minimum of 7+ years relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes IT internal auditing, IT external auditing, or experience in IT (e.g., IT Security, cybersecurity, data analytics, etc)

Professional certification required (including, but not limited to, CISA, CISSP, CIA, CPA, or CFE).

Knowledge of key IT audit requirements and standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley, IT Risk Assessments, Operational IT Audits, IT General Controls, Cyber Frameworks, Pre-implementation Reviews, etc

Ability to operate independently and recommend effective solutions while working in a virtual environment to complete projects with team members based in various locations.

Project management skills including planning and organization to initiate and develop project plans and successful implementation

Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

Excellent analytical abilities.

Demonstrate growth in use of research techniques.

Utilize best practices and techniques for addressing customer concerns.

Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships

Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results.

Time management skills including delivering quality, accurate work within established deadlines.

Some travel to company locations may be required (less than 10%). Occasional travel to other locations may also be required.
