Job Description

The Law Department’s Tax Unit needs a Legal Assistant to work in the Real Estate Tax Division of the Law Department assisting in handling of Sheriff Sale matters and other duties related to the collection of delinquent Real Estate taxes.

Essential Functions

· Meet with taxpayers on-a-daily basis.

· Enter taxpayers into agreements for delinquent real estate taxes.

· Review title reports in advance of the filing of the sheriff sale petition.

· Assist with preparing cases for the weekly Rule Hearings.

· Prepare and E-File various Court documents related to the sheriff sale process.

· Reviews and interprets real estate accounts and payment histories when needed.

· Work with the attorneys in the unit on various projects.

Qualifications

Preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate or equivalent and have three or more years’ experience in a legal setting, preferably in a law firm or an in-house legal department.

Additional Information

SALARY:$40,000-$46,000 / Year
