Job Title: CNC Saw Sharpening Machine Operator

Location: Eighty Four PA

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Saw Sharpening Machine Operator to join our team as we expand. The CNC Saw Sharpening Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC-based saw sharpening to ensure precision and efficiency in sharpening saw blades used in production. This role requires expertise in machine operation, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of CNC systems and cutting tool geometry.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC saw sharpening machine to sharpen circular saw blades. Setup and operate CNC knife grinding machine to sharpen linear knives. Bench grinding router bits and miscellaneous cutting tools. Interpret technical drawings, and work orders to determine the correct specifications for sharpening tools.

Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to ensure blades meet required tolerances and quality standards.

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on CNC sharpening machines to ensure proper functioning and prevent downtime.

Conduct regular inspections of sharpened saw blades, ensuring that they meet quality standards for sharpness, angles, and finish.

Perform quality control checks on sharpened blades, utilizing micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools to verify precision.

Adjust machine settings based on the type of saw blade and sharpening requirements (e.g., tooth pitch, tooth height, tooth shape).

Maintain inventory of cutting tools and abrasives required for sharpening operations and notify supervisors when supplies are low.

Troubleshoot machine malfunctions or errors and collaborate with maintenance teams to resolve issues promptly.

Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Assist with training new operators and provide guidance on best practices for machine operation and tool maintenance.

Document machine settings, maintenance, and repair activities in logs to ensure compliance with company standards.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree or certification in CNC machining is a plus).

Experience operating CNC saw sharpening machines or similar CNC equipment in a manufacturing or machining environment.

Strong knowledge of CNC programming and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Proficient in measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accurate sharpening.

Experience with troubleshooting and basic machine maintenance.

Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality standards.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Good communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Basic computer skills for data entry, machine control, and record-keeping.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during the shift.

Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform manual tasks such as loading and unloading saw blades and linear knives.

Vision acuity for reading detailed measurements and inspecting saw blades.

Work Environment:

The CNC Saw Sharpening Machine Operator will work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to typical shop floor conditions such as noise, dust, and machinery.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves will be required.
