Description: Job Title: Machinist/Toolmaker Job Code: SAS20210411-72143 Job Location: Bristol, PA Job Description: Oversee and coordinate all day-to-day operation of a model/machine shop. Support Engineering department in the development of new products, tools, and fixtures. This role requires interfacing with a number of cross functional groups including but not limited to; design engineering, process engineering, quality, procurement, and manufacturing personnel. Fabrication of machined parts, tools, and fixtures using hand operated and/or CNC milling machine, lathe, and other typical machine shop equipment. Position will support facilities functions on a part-time basis as needed. Essential Functions: Perform conventional and CNC machining, milling, lathe turning, cutting, grinding, and related tasks to fabricate mechanical parts per engineering designs.

Modify many different types modifications of COTS components/connectors/materials using machine shop tools/dies, etc… to .001” precision

Provide technical input and engage in technical interchange with mechanical engineers on the mechanical design, prototyping, development and assembly of products.

Ability to read, fully understand and interpret mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings designed to ASME 14.5M-1994 standard for complex, tight tolerance mechanical parts and assemblies.

Work from Blueprints, sketches, or Computer Aided Design (CAD) files.

Craft precision tools that are used to cut, shape, and form metal and other materials.

Quality control—the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals.

Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures, while maintaining a commitment to a high standards of safety; comply with all safety laws as well as company safety policies and procedures.

Work effectively with coworkers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive, positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions.

Provides basic support functions on behalf of facilities department on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in setup and operation of CNC and hand milling machines, lathes, and other shop tools.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Inspection of parts using various measuring equipment including Micrometers, Calipers and using a CMM Coordinate Measuring Machine.

Working knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances

Self-starter, high energy, results-oriented and ability to multi-task.

Excellent cross-functional teamwork, coordination and communication skills, both verbal and written.
