Job Description

We are looking for a content specialist to join a new team within Researcher Marketing, part of the larger Journals Marketing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to market new and exciting products across a variety of portfolios within Taylor & Francis journals. It is a varied position that will challenge you to think differently and play a pivotal role as our marketing evolves to better serve our customers.

You will understand the motivations and needs of researchers and use these insights to craft creative and attractive content targeting each stage of the researcher journey. You will develop and share in-depth knowledge of author needs and motivations towards publishing, using this knowledge to inform your content marketing strategy. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will work closely with colleagues in marketing, editorial, product, tech, and production to develop author-centred academic publishing services.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Undertake market analysis to identify where to reach potential customers and research customer segments to define your audience, working closely with other teams to understand the needs of the customer
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of publishing market developments, including competitor activities, customer needs, advances in technology, and professional and academic trends
  • Craft customer-first content tailored to different audience segments, developing regional messages that synthesize global themes
  • Work closely with your team to develop marketing plans encompassing the full range of evidence-based marketing activities to maximize revenue, quality submissions, and customer retention
  • Own the content creation strategy for your team, taking a results-driven approach to deliver engaging content that delights our customers at every stage of their journey
  • Report on your activities, maintaining budgets and trackers as required to ensure KPIs are met across multiple benchmarks, sharing learnings to support continuous improvement
  • Build effective long-term and strategic relationships, both internal (with editorial, other marketing teams, product development, other departments), and external (with authors, researchers, third party services)
  • Be accountable for managing own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps

Qualifications

You will have experience in a marketing environment, an understanding of the role marketing plays in the customer journey and a proven track-record of goal-achievement in evidence-based marketing campaigns. In addition, you will have:

  • Strong content marketing background with experience of creating customer-first content tailored to your audience
  • ·xperience of conducting market and customer research to inform your marketing, and the ability to pivot and adapt to market changes
  • Strong team player able to work closely with others within a geographically spread and multifunctional team
  • Excellent communication skills across a range of written and oral media
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines across several projects simultaneously

  • This role may be remote on the East Coast to ensure the most overlapping hours with the UK to work with colleagues
  • Domestic and international travel to T&F offices may be required (post Covid-19)
