Please apply ! Responsibilities:
Performs basic sample preparation consisting of sectioning with abrasive cutoff saws, hot and cold mounting, automatic grinding/polishing of routine samples, and manual grinding/polishing of non-routine samples.
Prepares a wide variety of metal samples including, but not limited to, iron, nickel, titanium, copper, and aluminum based alloys.
Interprets engineering documents, drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate method of sample preparation.
Responsible for recognizing a sample’s material type, orientation, size, and form.
Follows instructions and guidance provided by Sample Distribution and senior Metallography Personnel.
Monitors frequently changing scheduled completion dates and times to ensure that established deadlines are met.
Labels materials and prepared samples with pertinent identification and information.
Cleans and maintains the sample preparation lab environment.
Conducts routine maintenance of equipment including basic repairs when possible.
Must be mechanically inclined with skillful hand dexterity.
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Computer skills required: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Laboratory Management Systems and Software.
Other skills required: Mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment, ability to multi-task, and work at an up-tempo pace.
Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
