- Assist with the development of a dark fiber and transport strategy that includes existing Comcast dark fiber, front-haul, back-haul, mid-haul, mid-haul and long-haul assets as well as potential 3rd party fiber and transport networks.
- Assist with the development of best practices to qualify and assess new dark fiber vendors through technical, financial, and commercial reviews if existing plant does not meet requirements.
- Assist with the development of Comcast 5G transport standards.
- Assist with the requirements drafting and analysis of initial RFPs that will be utilized to select partners in given markets.
- Assist Transport Engineers with managing all aspects of transport RFPs to achieve best techno-commercial solution in the event 3rd party data center or dark fiber / transport solutions are needed.
- Assist with the sourcing, contract management, negotiation and supplier management strategies and practices for all components of the transport network.
- Interfaces with Comcast organizations to identify Comcast data centers and dark fiber transport options to meet architecture requirements.
- Coordinate all circuit design, ordering and testing related activities with transport engineers and provisions.
- Manage and maintain an inventory of active transport services and numbering resources.
- Lead periodic meetings with internal and external transport vendor(s) to ensure that dark fiber and circuits are delivered on schedule.
- Attend deployment meeting regularly to provide updates on transport implementation.
- Work with PMO, construction manager and transport vendor to conduct site visits.
- Ensure all equipment and installation requirements are properly defined for a site.
- Work with PMO and construction manager to ensure that the NTP is issued to the transport vendor promptly.
- Establish an excellent relationship with transport vendor(s) to facilitate deployment schedule. Manage escalations and expedite with vendors to ensure timely service delivery.
- Coordinate input of network data into designated industry databases and associated reporting.
- Address issues and questions from business, engineering, deployment and operations groups.
- Escalate implementation related issue to leadership team as needed.
- Responsible for coordination and execution of engineering and technical aspects of each assigned project.
- Participation in technical deep dives.
- Document all of the projects scope, MOP, requirements, assumptions, and general info using standard templates.
- Execute appropriate engagements to the impacted teams for their involvement (e.g., deployment, server placements, network connectivity, procurement, optimization, etc.).
- Participate in peer reviews of design decisions to ensure accuracy and alignment of best in class designs and solutions.
- Remain engaged at every stage of the project through the end of the deployment/integration period.
- Provide application support by debugging code, fixes, bugs and integrated modules during engineering and integration phase.
- System administration of Linux systems, some scripting and packaging using rpm, apt-get, yum.
- Able to fix and troubleshoot different variations of Samsung and other Major OEM network and operating systems.
- Advanced network troubleshooting of multiple 5G site solutions.
- Ability to travel a minimum of 50% and up to100% and work remotely with minimum guidance, daily assignments, independently or with a team.
- Technical - must demonstrate broad understanding of each item:
- Infrastructure - Samsung and other Major OEM platforms.
- Network and System practices and procedures for deploying systems.
- Network - demonstrated working knowledge of routing, switching, DNS, VLAN, advanced network troubleshooting.
- Linux system build/configuration, administration and troubleshooting.
- 10+ years of wireless industry experience required with an emphasis in Equipment Engineer, C&I, and Deployment.
- Previous experience with the successful management of macro and small cell site C&I in a greenfield environment is required.
- Ability to meet / speak with various internal customers and vendors to gain an understanding of their architecture, systems, objectives, etc. and then determine the best solution most appropriate for their environment.
- Hands-on experience working with servers (Linux).
- Network certifications or hands on experience with multiple OEM solutions.
- RF knowledge, 4G/5G and CBRS wireless solutions.
- Excellent teamwork mindset and ability to collaborate with various team members of other internal groups.
