As a Nurse Aide at the SCI Laurel Highlands facility, you play a vital role in providing direct nursing assistance and rehabilitation to inmates. Your ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, and work as part of a strong team is essential for ensuring the wellness and safety of the individuals under your care. Your daily duties may include checking vital signs, collecting specimens, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring the inmates' overall wellness and protection under a registered nurse's supervision. You will manage and document information in the electronic health record as required. You may also be required to assist inmates with daily activities and maintain hygiene to meet their basic physical care needs. Specific medical incidents may arise, requiring you to utilize your skills and knowledge by assisting in emergencies and performing emergency procedures, such as CPR, obstructed airways, and emergency response drills as assigned. Full-time employment; 8-hour work shifts with rotating off days

The DOC is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.

Work hours TO BE DETERMINED.

Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or

Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.Special Requirements:

This position is assigned to a long-term facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.Additional Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
