Design/drafting with SolidWorks
Perform detailed design and documentation of mechanical components or subsystems
Manage own design sub-tasks in support of the duties within the project assigned
Contribute to design and documentation of semi-complex mechanical components as active member of project team
Produce two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) CAD work product output for fabrication and assembly
Generate mechanical designs considering material requirements and functional characteristics
Generate and check semi-complex to complex drawings
Perform tolerance analysis studies as required
Create new and/or revises existing drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, and bills of material for our products
Determine scaling; insert necessary reference planes, center and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning; prepare specifications for parts, assemble, and installations; prepare complete production detail drawings; contribute design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations
Check drawings versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standard engineering drafting practices and standards
Work with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation
Create Engineering Change Notices detailing the necessary changes to released designs, updates drawings/models/BOMs as needed, and routes change requests through the approval process
Create and revises documentation detailing assembly and/or testing
May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage
Write technical documents, test procedures, installation procedures, and process documents
Conduct research to make recommendations to management for new vendors, products or technical specifications
Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues
Research and interface with vendors on products that meet job design requirements
Use the Engineering Change database to implement changes in a design document to cut costs where needed and record changes that are needed to improve on a product
Work as individual technical contributor or as part of development team
Provide work leadership to drafters / may manage small team of drafters
Open to new ideas and can serve as a champion for change and acts to support change when directed from management
Assist engineers in the design and development of complex and detailed layouts of printed circuit boards Participates in developing designs of new or modified high-density printed circuit boards
May define design standards and configurations
Work from preliminary schematics, part lists, and basic description of the board function, configuration, and arrangement as defined by engineering
Instruct drafter in the completion of drawings and specifications
Manage time to ensure an assignment's completion
Take on problems and commits to solutions
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance
Proficient knowledge of material r quirements, fabrication techniques, and manufacturability concepts
Proficient knowledge of design principles and techniques including computer aided design (CAD)
Trained/ experienced in the use of current strategic CAD tools (SolidWorks required)
Proficient knowledge of the strategic CAD and file management tools
Proficient knowledge of design documentation standards (e.g ASME Y14.5M, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Proficient knowledge of mechanical stress; structural, thermal and tolerance analysis
Possesses proficient problem solving and collaborative skills
Demonstrates initiative, applies personal talent to practical solutions
Works within the trade space defined (cost / schedule / technology)
Demonstrates the ability to weigh risks and make progress in the face of uncertainty
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
SolidWorks experience.
