Job Description

We are looking to add two Production Editors to our Production Department. You will work on our diverse list of academic journals and report to Production Supervisor. You will be an important member of the team, helping us deliver timely and quality content to our customers.

Production Editors are the core position within the production department at Taylor & Francis.As such, Production Editors are assigned a group of journals that they are responsible for from receipt of manuscripts from the Editors-in-Chief to print/online publication. Additionally, Production Editors are responsible for overseeing a group of assigned vendor-managed journals, which includes providing support and guidance to the vendor project managers. Production Editors oversee each stage of an issue's production while maintaining article/issue schedules, page budgets, communications with authors and Editors-in-Chief as well as interoffice departments. Production Editors must have an eye for detail, be organized, be able to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managingthe flow of content on a portfolio of titles to meet agreed speed and quality targets
  • Providingsupport and guidance to assigned vendor project managers
  • Serving as the main point of contact for assigned Editors-in-Chief, authors, internal departments and external vendors and customers
  • Ensuringpage budgets and publication schedules are met for assigned titles
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Regularly reviewing production process of assigned journals; suggesting areas of improvement where applicable
  • Keeping content management systems updated with scheduling information
  • UtilizingLean principles to promote process-improvement; assisting on department projects

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in a fast, process-driven workflow
  • Experience working with external suppliers and partners
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, content management, and/or customer relationship management systems
  • Ability to be detail-oriented, accurate, and a problem-solver
  • Excellent organization skills and confidence in completing multiple tasks to deadlines
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, oral and written
  • A strong command of English grammar and academic styles
  • Flexibility to adjust to changes in work plans or assignments

This role may be remote with the requirement to be located on theEast Coast in order to have the most overlap to work with colleagues in the UK.
