Job Type: Term (Fixed Term)Position Description
RAND seeks research assistants to work on research projects devoted to tobacco control. The research assistants will work with a team of clinical psychologists, social psychologists, and statisticians on projects funded by the National Cancer Institute. This is a limited duration term position, not to exceed 3 years.Duties
Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and managing all activities associated with human research studies including data collection from study participants; participant recruitment, screening and scheduling; data entry, management and preparation; literature reviews; preparation of documents and presentations; and coordination of work among project team members. Research assistants may have the opportunity to co-author scientific journal articles.Basic Qualifications
Successful candidates will have had experience in laboratory-based research and/or clinical field research; knowledge of policy research methods; some data entry and database management experience; excellent problem-solving skills; and effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with study participants, team members, and other departments and outside institutions. They must be highly motivated, organized, flexible, and demonstrate a strong commitment to RAND's core values of quality and objectivity.Education
BA/BS in psychology (preferred) or other social science discipline. Master's level applicants should look for Analyst positions on the RAND job posting site.Specific Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
Experience with standard statistical software packages (SPSS, SAS) preferred
Experience conducting qualitative interviews and experience using qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Dedoose)Experience
