Experience - 10+ YearsPosition Daily Duties• Additional team member, coverage for SCOM support.• Keep up with daily operational support – strained now.• Improve monitoring of PennDOT systems and applications – key points to this are:• Lacking documentation – need to document.• Customization – add filters, fine tune management packs & views, create more dashboards content specific depending who is viewing (technical teams, application development, management).• Establish simplified dashboards for executives and management teams.• Roll-up distributed dashboards into one – SCOM, SolarWinds, Splunk, others.• Integration with OMS – collaboration with OA, DOT is participating in pilot.• Integrate with enterprise architecture team – establish monitoring as a requirement for all new apps coming online.• Keep up with existing systems that are being monitored as they change – not happening currently. Key Responsibilities

• The Microsoft System Center Operations Manager Administrator will support the SCOM infrastructure and work with application developers and engineers to create custom monitors. The primary roles for this position will be:• Provide daily operational support for SCOM infrastructure.• Create and deploy custom Management Packs.• Create scripts in PowerShell and VB Script for custom monitors and automation tasks.• Create and maintain monitoring and alerting rules.• Setup and distribute custom reports using SQL Server Reporting Services.• Perform audits of monitored systems for changes; engage teams to gather updated information to correct application monitors.• Actively participate in monitoring governance at the department; document monitoring requirements and framework for all application development and infrastructure teams to adhere to. Position will work closely with:• Active Directory Team• Application Development Team• Core Network Team• Enterprise Architecture Team• Security Team• System Center Configuration Management Team Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a SCOM Administrator, hands on experience with SCOM 2016 - desired.• Minimum 10 years composing technical documentation for end-users and technical support teams.• Minimum 10 years troubleshooting web browser application issues.• Understand software development processes and concepts (Agile, user acceptance testing, code freeze).• Proficient with tools to trouble shoot application issues (browser debug mode, process monitor, network monitor captures).• Must have advanced level enterprise scripting skills (VB Script, PowerShell, others).• Experience with Microsoft technologies including server and client operating systems, Active Directory, and SQL Server.• Solid understanding of network infrastructure and protocols – TCP/IP, DNS, firewall ports, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, TELNET, SNMP, FTP.
