THE POSITIONDo you have advanced IT experience and are eager to move into a leadership role? T he Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) Solution Management Division is seeking an experienced IT professional to join our team as a Senior Applications Developer. This position gives you the opportunity to function in a key technical position responsible for directly supporting application development and technical support needs that are primarily focused in the areas of disease surveillance and laboratory operations. Join our dynamic team of professionals and start a new and exciting chapter in your career! DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Senior Applications Developer within the Health and Human Services (HHS) IT Delivery Center, you will become part of a team that provides end-to-end IT services to all staff in the Department of Human Services (DHS), the Department of Health (DOH), the (DDAP), and the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA). In this role, you will work closely with the Applications Developer Administrator and a technical team of Commonwealth and contracted employees carrying out a full-range of software development and technical support activities throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC). You will be responsible for being proactive by constantly monitoring, evaluating, and reviewing system performance and adherence to all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Commonwealth, and HHSDC policies, guidelines, and standards. This is a highly advanced technical position with responsibilities that require proven experience and expertise in Azure DevOps, .NET 4.6 or higher, VB.NET, C#.NET, SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. You will utilize your knowledge and experience to provide technical-lead application support and services for the following mission critical Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) applications:

Message Processing Gateway (MPG)

Pennsylvania National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (PA-NEDSS)

Pennsylvania Electronic Laboratory Reporting System (ELR)

Pennsylvania Laboratory Certification System (LabCert)

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment.

Free parking located at the building.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

Telework: You may be expected to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be required to report in-office at minimum one day per month, this could change to include more in-office days. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office at 2525 North 7th Street, Harrisburg.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4;or

Five years of information technology experience that includes three years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance;or

Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field;or

One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training

Other Requirements:

This particular position also requires three or more years of full-time experience with C#.NET, T-SQL, SQL Server, and SSRS.
