  • Building and enhancing Natural Language Processing (NLP) and understanding (NLU) pipelines
  • Training and evaluating Machine Learning (ML) Support Vector Machine (SVM) as well as Neural Networks (NN) models
  • Researching and prototyping algorithms specifically to the health care domain
Realyze Intelligence is a UPMC Enterprises portfolio company that utilizes AI and NLP/NLU to capture unstructured clinical data, ensuring patient populations with heart conditions or cancer receive the most beneficial treatments. Realyze applies sophisticated clinical models alongside the latest in AI technology to unlock information from across the entire patient record including narrative text with the goal of prioritizing specific patient populations that are typically hard to identify.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and enhance the Realyze Intelligence Platform
  • Compile technical requirements based on the needs of clinical content specialists
  • Work as part of the team or independently in an agile development environment in short sprints
  • Mentor junior engineers via pairing, design reviews and code reviews
  • Communicate technical details, ideas, and concepts to engineers and non-engineers

Qualifications
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in software development in lieu of the bachelor’s degree education requirement
  • Minimum of five (5) years of development experience with object-oriented programs, such as Java, C#, or C in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field
  • Development experience with production-grade Spring-based Applications
  • Experience with unit testing and integration testing frameworks
  • Experience in version control systems, such as SVN, Mercurial or Git
  • Familiarity with microservices
  • Familiarity with JSON technologies

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing
  • Experience with Machine Learning
