Position Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of gasoline dispensers, fuel pumps, underground storage tank components, and associated electronic and mechanical systems. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical and technical aptitude, field troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to work independently and in coordination with customers, vendors, and team members.
Responsibilities
1. Field Service and Equipment Maintenance
Perform preventative and routine maintenance on petroleum fueling equipment including Gilbarco, Wayne, Veeder-Root, Ruby, Gasboy, and Petrovend systems.
Install, troubleshoot, and repair components such as fuel dispensers, pumps, point-of-sale systems, and underground tank sensors.
Read and interpret scopes of work, technical drawings, and specifications.
Assemble/disassemble mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components in the field.
Complete all required documentation and reports following service visits.
Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle and inventory.
2. Safety, Compliance and Customer Interaction
Follow all safety policies and procedures, including confined space and ladder safety.
Use company provided PPE and attend regular safety meetings.
Interface professionally with customers, vendors, and local enforcement agencies.
Ensure compliance with construction site safety standards and environmental regulations.
Accurately obtain required permits, schedule inspections, and coordinate with project teams when needed.
3. IT and Technical Integration
Troubleshoot and configure software and hardware for point-of-sale systems and network-connected equipment.
Leverage computer programming knowledge and basic IT skills to support diagnostics and system upgrades.
Utilize Microsoft Office and company software to manage service records and communication.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of hands-on mechanical, electrical, or plumbing experience.
Experience working with petroleum or fueling systems strongly preferred.
Basic understanding of electrical systems and safe troubleshooting practices.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Valid Driver’s License (required); ability to travel daily to job sites.
Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, and in outdoor conditions.
Work Environment
This role operates in a combination of environments including offices, shops/warehouses, and outdoor industrial job sites. Technicians are frequently exposed to loud noise, moving machinery, and varying weather conditions.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Frequent standing, walking, climbing, crawling, pulling, and pushing.
Travel
As needed travel to our OH location and industry-related conferences.
