The Smeal College of Business seeks an experienced Academic Adviser to work in a fast-paced, high energy academic environment. Extensive knowledge of university policy and procedures that apply to the matriculation and the academic, personal, and professional development of undergraduate students is required.The responsibilities of this individual include:
Provide academic advising to undergraduate students, guide students in course selection and scheduling, resolve academic problems, and monitor degree progress.
Assess other student needs and make professional referrals.
Serve as a resource for academic advisers and students.
Interpret university policies, procedures, and curriculum for students and faculty in the college
Contribute to advising committees and/or working groups related to areas that may include student success, diversity and inclusion, assessment and evaluation, academic policies and/or staff development.
Assess levels of engagement and develop events aimed at increasing engagement among Smeal international student populations.
Assist students in study abroad exchange programs at University Park in scheduling select Smeal business courses.Other duties include meeting with prospective students and families and participating in various college programs such as New Student Orientation, Accepted Student Programs, Spend A Summer Day, and other programs as assigned. This position requires interaction with students, parents, faculty, and various college staff members and may require occasional weekend and evening hours.Requires a master's degree or higher plus three years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic advising with a proven track record and commitment to serving diverse student populations.
