This Special Education Advisor position in the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) provides you with an exciting opportunity! DESCRIPTION OF WORKJoin our team in this rewarding role overseeing the quality of services in early childhood care and education programs serving young children birth through school age, while promoting the integration of Infant/Toddler and Preschool Early Intervention (EI) programs. You will provide management, monitoring, and consultative services to ensure implementation of services and programs as well as compliance with State and Federal regulations and established Departmental rules and regulations. Create continuous quality improvement for services that support the most critical time in a child’s life while advancing your career in a culture that values accountability, adaptability, and authenticity! Your key responsibilities will include:

Acting as a liaison while monitoring and providing technical assistance for assigned local EI programs.

Planning, facilitating, and coordinating program duties required at the state level in conjunction with the Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC).

Identifying compliance issues at the regional and state level which impact the provision of services.

Providing guidance to local EI programs for improvement on federal and state statutes and regulations.

Developing, reviewing, and revising statewide policies and procedures related for programs and services for eligible young children.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

While this specific position will be home headquartered, the individual will primarily be assigned to northwest and central counties, intermediate units. Travel for frequent in-person and routine on-sight monitoring of assignment locations will be required. Additional travel and assignments are required for the Western and Central Region counties and programs, as necessary.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Five years of professional experience in special education including two years as an administrator of a special education program;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years as an administrator of a special education program.

Other Requirements:

This particular position requires applicants possess two years of experience in the supervision of Early Intervention programs or the provision of Early Intervention services.

PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaivedfor this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
