Splunk Support Engineer

Malvern, PA - Day One onsite & Hybrid

Long Term Contract

Experience and Core ResponsibilitiesManage the installation and configuration of monitoring and observability software.

Duties:
  • Using strong troubleshooting and communication skills to investigate issues and collaborate with other engineers to resolve
  • Strong client communication skills - situational awareness, setting appropriate expectations, communicating updates, not over or under sharing information
  • Investigating and troubleshooting monitoring related issues on Windows/Linux servers and in shell/Perl scripts
  • Assisting in the development of the overall project plans and timetables, analysis, and identification of intermediate deliverables
  • Assisting with estimating work efforts required for each phase of the project.
  • Working with administrative languages, tools, and techniques such as shell, bash, YAML, JSON to automate AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Configuring Monitoring and alerting for production workloads in AWS
  • Managing AWS infrastructure using tools like Cloud Formation or Terraform
  • Leveraging standard tooling, like Bitbucket/Bamboo for deploying code
  • Manage the installation and configuration of applications like Tivoli, SiteScope, AppDynamics and SCOM helping clients to setup alerts as per the request.
  • Configuring Splunk data ingestion and creating dashboards and alerts
  • Writing high quality client and internal facing documentation of technologies and procedures
  • Abiding by ITIL and Vanguard procedures in a regulated environment for change management, incident management, problem management, etc.

Strongly Desired Skills
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing - Familiarity with standard web application and microservice concepts
  • Previous experience providing installation and administration of tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, PagerDuty, Tivoli/ ITM, Microsoft SCOM, VMWare VRops, HP Sitescope, ThousandEyes, AWS Cloudwatch, Grafana or similar open source or vendor tools
  • Experience coding with Python, Powershell, Perl or unix shell scripting
  • Experience automating deployment or configuration with Ansible or Puppet
  • Experience deploying assets in AWS and using AWS Cloudwatch for monitoring
  • Experience in monitoring or performance testing methodology
  • Experience in supporting production environments - Experience and knowledge of common system administration concepts (virtualization/VMWare, Windows/Linux OS, Active Directory/LDAP, etc)
