Our client, a leader within their industry, is seeking to hire a Sr Electrical & Instrument Project Engineer for a full time role. This position represents a major participant in developing the design of hydrogen generation, compression, storage, and dispensing systems at all locations as well as supporting the Construction and Commissioning efforts. The Sr E & I Engineer will responsible for the enhancement of the current technology, establish and develop processes to support the Project Management department, and assist in the development and design of new facilities. This individual should be creative, self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced technical organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deploy solutions for hydrogen infrastructure systems focused on electrical power and distribution systems, plant controls and automation improvements and optimal system performance.
  • Initiate Design for electrical power system architecture, main electrical components, and connections – low, medium, and high power/voltage solutions.
  • Assist in preparation of specifications for new equipment such as, inverters, transformers, batteries, power distribution and interconnections
  • Create test plans for and oversee system electrical testing.
  • Expert interface with internal teams, vendors, and site for all electrical and controls issues.
  • Mentor team members on design work and act as senior technical resource for guidance
  • Build effective internal relationships with colleagues; work both inter-departmentally and cross-functionally as needed for project assignments.
  • Coordinate design efforts with engineering contractors and provide oversight of related site construction work
  • Effectively incorporate field performance data as well as manufacturing constraints within design work efforts; focus upon design elements that improve product performance and manufacturability.
  • Develop, read, approve, and maintain comprehensive project documentation including equipment specifications, single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, short circuit studies, and familiar with Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs)

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Seven (7) or more years of relevant work history in Electrical Engineering
  • Fundamental understanding of site/utility infrastructure – 480VAC 3P, grid battery backup solutions and technology
  • Knowledge of siting requirements, regulatory requirements for large scale power systems
  • Working knowledge of electrical power systems
  • Experience with balance of plant work for a new construction project
  • Leading and Mentoring of young Engineers
  • Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position – up to 25%

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with large scale construction projects, durations of 6 to 18 months
  • Experience with gas processing, cryogenics, LNG and/or refueling systems
  • Experience in or working with Renewable Energy (wind, hydro, or solar)
  • Experience with hazardous area design
  • Managerial experience with development of teams and/or departments
