POSITION SUMMARY:The Sr. Product Manager of Merchandise Planning Systems will have the opportunity to define and lead the implementation of next generation capabilities that transform the way that Five Below does merchandise planning as it grows from $3B to $6B in annual revenue. This role will partner with stakeholders from Merchandise Planning, Buying and Finance areas to develop a roadmap for the systems that support assortment planning, financial planning, forecasting, and in-season merchandise management. They will guide a scrum team in delivering business value frequently through an established agile development process. Product managers are accountable for real-time engagement with senior business leaders for both strategic and tactical initiatives while ensuring our applications uptime and performance meets the operating need.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Creates and documents a vision for multiple projects in a prioritized long-term roadmap.
  • Document business requirements in the form of Agile stories; groom stories in the backlog to ensure that engineers on the scrum team understands the acceptance criteria for the stories.
  • Responsible for defining Epics, stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog.
  • Build relationships with key business partners and other stakeholders to ensure an understanding of their business processes/needs and integrate those into the backlog, liaising between those stakeholders and the technical teams.
  • Lead team demonstrations of software product and provide context to explain how the software product applies to business processes
  • Sets and communicates iteration goals and iteration content via prioritized stories
  • Develops a strong understanding of the business operations in a domain
  • Partners with the stakeholders to help drive user adoption of new capabilities, including development of change management plans, communication plans, training, and user adoption surveys.
  • Supports organizational change and training through development of change management plans, communication plans and training materials
  • Describe proposed scope changes to engineers and negotiate tradeoffs between scope, schedule and quality on behalf of stakeholders.
  • Provide input to release planning, design storming, QA validations and signoff at iteration level across multiple scrum teams.
  • Proactively and effectively communicate changes to systems (Projects / Minor enhancements related changes.)
  • Engage with the software vendors and understand the new application functionality that’s being evaluated for implementation.
  • Communicate critical business-impacting incidents to leaders in a timely manner and ensure they are communicated in business language; provide cross-functional team coordination to remediate critical issues and ensure ongoing status is communicated and contingency options that best support the business are provided

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years IT experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in product management or product ownership on an Agile team, preferably for a large retail company.
  • Experience using roadmap and agile project management tools (Jira, Aha, Rally, etc) preferred
