Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Analyst will be responsible for the preparation of federal and state income tax returns, as well as assisting with the preparation of the domestic tax provision. The person hired for this position will support strategic planning initiatives, ensure compliance with internal controls, assist with domestic income tax audits, and support other corporate income tax department functions.

The position requires knowledge and understanding of domestic income tax law and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles. The candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills and the desire to initiate change, act proactively with minimal supervision and respond with a sense of urgency to drive execution through the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist in the preparation of the tax provision on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Reconciliations of domestic income tax accounts.
  • Preparation of federal and state income tax returns including the calculation of book/tax differences.
  • Preparation of apportionment reports for state income tax filings.
  • Preparation of responses to domestic audits and notices.
  • Assist with preparation of Forms 5471 and 8858.
  • Provide assistance to tax leadership with tax planning projects including analysis, documentation, and conclusions.
  • Support federal and state process improvement initiatives within the Tax Department.
  • Provide assistance with international tax projects.
  • Ability to research U.S. federal, state and local tax law.
  • Assist with data requests and analysis relating to Armstrong's global business.
  • Calculation and preparation of quarterly estimated payments and extensions.
  • Assist with the preparation of cash tax forecasts and current and deferred tax account projections.

Education and/or Experience
  • B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or Business Administration
  • 2 plus years of relevant income tax experience in either public accounting or a large corporate tax department
  • Experience with corporate tax software and on-line tax research products
  • Experience with SAP, SAP BPC, and Hyperion a plus
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Income Tax and Tax Provision software a plus

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
