Technology Observability Lead

Contract (hybrid - 3 days per week)

Media, PATechnology Observability Lead that will be part of a team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining observability systems and processes that ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our technology infrastructure. This role will require a strong understanding of observability best practices and tools, with a focus on using DataDog to monitor and analyze system behavior, application performance, and business metrics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement & maintain observability systems and processes to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our technology infrastructure (On-prem & Cloud)
  • Assist in the implementation of a more proactive, predictive team utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), dynamic thresholds, and automated response models to minimize manual work while preventing business service interruptions and ensuring transparency in all aspects of the infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define observability requirements and develop monitoring strategies for different application types and use cases
  • Configure and maintain monitoring tools to track system behavior, application performance, and business metrics
  • Develop and maintain custom dashboards and alerts to ensure timely detection and resolution of issues
  • Analyze monitoring data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and make data-driven recommendations for system improvements
  • Coordinate between support and development teams to ensure effective delivery of monitoring services to the end-user
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other teams on observability best practices and tool usage

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field/experience
  • 5+ years of experience in observability and monitoring for complex, distributed systems
  • Demonstrated experience with DataDog, including configuration, customization, and optimization of monitoring tools and dashboards
  • ServiceNow, PagerDuty, SolarWinds, AppDynamics experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of observability best practices and tools, including metrics, logs, and traces
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, microservices, and containerization technologies
  • Experience administering multiple monitoring systems
  • Experience with Windows, Unix and Linux Systems
  • Experience in Cloud environment - AWS and Azure
  • Experience implementing best practices and industry standards for operational monitoring aligned to ITIL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot issues using monitoring data
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong will to stay abreast of the latest monitoring technology and trends. Can evaluate and mitigate new and emerging event management tools and strategies
  • Focus on continuous process improvement.
