About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive and experienced Yard Manager/Dispatcher to oversee daily yard operations at our building supply facility. This role is responsible for managing yard personnel, coordinating the movement of materials, ensuring timely and accurate dispatch of deliveries, and maintaining a clean and customer ready yard environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong team leader with hands on experience in logistics, materials handling and customer service in the construction or building supply industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Personnel & Yard Management:

Supervise and coordinate the yard team, including training, scheduling, and performance management.

Ensure all safety protocols and company policies are followed.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment that reflects positively on the company.

Receiving & Inventory Support:

Coordinate with the receiving department to assist in managing inbound materials.

Order Pulling & Verification:

Coordinate with sales and warehouse teams to ensure customer orders are picked, staged, and verified accurately.

Assist in verifying material quantities and types before loading for delivery.

Organize and oversee the creation of "packs" – bundles of material banded together per delivery or jobsite requirements.

Dispatch & Logistics:

Schedule and dispatch delivery trucks based on delivery deadlines, truck capacity, and route efficiency.

Communicate with drivers to address route issues, delays, or delivery adjustments.

Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to ensure delivery expectations are met.

Customer Interaction:

Assist walk-in or drive-through customers in the yard, ensuring prompt and professional service.

Serve as a key point of contact between the yard team and customers to resolve on-site issues.

Qualifications:

Prior experience in building materials, logistics, or warehouse operations required.

Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with lumber construction materials and loading protocols preferred.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Forklift certification

CDL a plus

Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work Environment:

Occasional outdoor yard operations with exposure to varying weather.

Physical activity includes lifting, walking, bending, and operating equipment.

Office work for scheduling, inventory review, and dispatch coordination.
