Title:Boatswain’s Mate Subject Matter Expert (SME)KBR is seeking a Boatswain’s Mate Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our Team. In this role, you will serve as the principal advisor to Surface Warfare School Command N72 Director for all matters pertaining to the development, review, and execution of all Navy-wide training curricula, policies, and qualification requirements for the Boatswain’s Mate rating specialty in our Newport, Rhode Island location.The Surface Warfare Officers School Command is the “Center for Excellence” for Surface Warfare where officers and senior enlisted leaders sharpen their leadership, management and professional skills throughout their career. SWSC prepares Officers for roles such as Engineering, Combat Systems, Weapons, Operations, and Deck Department Heads aboard all classes of Navy ships. Among the topics of instruction are Information Operations, Air and Missile Defense, Surface Warfare, Undersea Warfare, and Expeditionary Warfare. Job Description:
Provides instruction in deck related topics
Coordinates with, and advise, TYCOM on Boatswain’s Mate/Deck Community health and initiatives for improvement.
Development and maintenance of all Boatswain’s Mate (BM) training courses.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of all BM related NAVEDTRA manuals including 14343, 12968, 14067.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of all NAVEDTRA 43220, 43152, and 43492-2 series Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS).
Advises on the impact of changes and developments of emergent training and certification requirements for all MOB-S, MOB-A, SAR, and AMW warfare area certifications, for implementation into BM training courses, manuals, and PQS.
Advises on the development of emerging training courses and technologies for BM related training course and facilities.
Acts as SWSC representative for Standards Review Board for seamanship and amphibious navy publications including NSTM, NTTP, NTRP, NWP, etc., as revisions occur.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field with 10 years of experience. In lieu of formal education, at least 18 years of progressive related experience in specified field is required. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
Must have prior experience as a Surface Deck Limited Duty Officer, designator 6110
Prior experience as a Surface Deck LDO, designator 6110 is required for this role.
Must have experience in a Ship’s Boatswain role.
Experience serving as a Master Training Specialist.
Prior experience as a Surface Warfare Officer is required.
