Position Functions
- 2+ years of experience working in a desktop environment
- One to three years of network administration experience
- Proficiency with windows computers
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Detail oriented in order to keep detailed notes on tickets
- Highly organized to keep desktop tickets order
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic computer technical issues
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to train users in applications and operating system fundamentals and to write basic documentation
- Strong skills with most operating system commands/utilities
- Familiarity with most basic network administration tools and processes; for example, ability to boot/shut down a machine, add and remove user accounts, use backup programs and fsck or chkdsk, manage shared resources (e.g., file systems, printers), add a workstation to a network, mount remote file systems, and maintain system database files (groups, hosts, aliases, usermanager)
- Understanding distinctions between system processes/services and user processes, the authentication/authorization processes in use at the site, local and network resources and resource sharing, basic networking concepts and practices
- Familiarity with the basic Windows administrative tools and how to locate them (e.g., Computer Management tool, lowest-level Active Directory tools)
- Works well alone or on a team
- Manage Desktop tickets in a timely manner
- Respond to customer issues via phone, email and computer chat
- Provide customer assistance
- Document customer interactions
- Run diagnostics to resolve customer reported issues
- Escalate issues to the next Tier with next level of difficulty
- Install, make changes and repair computer hardware and software
- Follow-up with customers to ensure issues are resolved
- Run diagnostic problems to resolve problems
- Clean up computers
- Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks (LA), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other systems
- Collect feedback to determine patterns and issues such that they can be resolved, or FAQs can be provided to customer to ease in troubleshooting
- Must be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, lift heavy file boxes, and answer and communicate on a telephone .

- This position works Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 3-4 days per week in the office.This position requires occasional flexibility for working additional hours to accomplish project objectives.
