Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting

Description:Direct Hire.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical advisory support to the broader accounting team, work closely with cross functional departments, and interact with outside advisors and auditors
  • Assess and implement all technical accounting topics, including evaluation, documentation, and communication of all new accounting standards, SEC reporting, and general reporting trends
  • Research and document GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting requirements
  • Provide technical accounting research for non-routine or complex revenue transactions
  • Review revenue contracts to ensure revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606 and ASC 842
  • Review draft contracts and customer orders for potential revenue recognition issues
  • Implement and execute financial reporting process and future SEC reporting
  • Work closely with external auditors, business leaders, and senior management to ensure communication of critical issues in a timely manner
  • Develop and maintain internal and future external reporting calendar, coordinate key timelines and deliverables, and work collaboratively with various business partners to ensure timely, accurate and complete reporting and future public filings
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls in relation to the technical accounting and financial reporting processes
  • Develop key reports from SAP to support monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Work cross functionally to gather key financial metrics to support month end fluctuation analysis and support monthly reporting
  • Lead/participate in special projects as needed
  • Oversee statutory reporting requirements and regulatory compliance
  • Other duties as required

Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • CPA certification, active license status
  • At least 8 years of technical accounting and financial reporting experience
  • At least 5 years of management experience preferably with a multinational public company
  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, SOX, and SEC reporting standards
  • Experience with technical research and preparation of accounting position papers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail
  • Combination of Big 4 public accounting and public company experience a plus
  • SAP/Central Finance experience a plus
  • Familiarity with Workiva or other external reporting platforms a plus
