Laboratory Technician, Environment Testing, Cranston, RI

The Laboratory Technician I has some knowledge of commonly used microbiological concepts, practices and procedures. Has working knowledge of formulations for various media used in the laboratories’ techniques. This position is out of our Cranston, RI laboratory.  Schedule is 9/9:30am-6pm  Saturday, Sunday and 3 weekdays. (flexible on what 3 days Mon-Fri).  Saturday and Sunday are a MUST  Compensation is $19-20/hour (DOE)  plus full benefitsEssential Job Functions: Responsible for receipt of and proper logging in of all samples received into the laboratory Responsible for ensuring the correct analysis is performed on all samples received into the laboratory Ensures that proper Quality Control/Quality Assurance tests are performed on all analyses for the day Correctly utilizes all QC/QA documentation/logbooks Assists MLT III to ensure that the QA/QC task schedule is completed as necessary Input and review data entry from the bench sheets to the Laboratory Information Management System (currently Element) Interface with clients Work with MLT III and LD to order supplies necessary for the day to day running of the laboratory Responsible for running routine and non-routine, specialized microbiological analyses Perform field work as necessary Prepare media necessary for various analyses in the laboratory Laboratory maintenanceWork evenings, weekends, holidays as needed on a rotating basis
