Summary: As a Product Design Engineering Manager on the Smart Glasses Hardware Team, you will be responsible for demonstrating strong fundamentals and capabilities in mechanical engineering and product design for complex products. This is a hands-on role in which you will be intimately involved in the engineering execution and will lead a multi-disciplinary team of engineers in architecting, designing, and delivering the next generation of smart glasses and accessories in the META products roadmap. You will balance and prioritize requirements from researchers, engineers, and product managers, inform program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and effectively communicate with program stakeholders. Communication and technical aptitude are vital skills as you will act as a liaison between researchers, mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers, as well as a wide range of cross functional partners. This is a complex and operationally challenging role that will give you the opportunity to lead the development of technologies that will revolutionize the way humans communicate and interact in the near future.Required Skills: Manager, Product Design Engineering Responsibilities:Inspire & lead the efforts of the mechanical engineering team.
Mentor a team of mechanical engineers and other engineering managers.
Collaborate with key partners (Research, Engineering, Leadership, Operations, Legal, Facilities, etc.) to support new and ongoing projects.
Manage project meetings, schedules, milestones and delivery.
Design, simulate, prototype, and test complex systems which combine electronics, mechanical parts, optics and software.
Provide significant individual technical contributions in your area of expertise.
Effectively influence leaders and key partners to gain alignment.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience as a hardware leader working with complex electro-mechanical products and systems.
3+ years experience in management of a mid-size teams.
Experience with cameras, displays, batteries, audio, and sensors.
Demonstrated domain knowledge in product development. Proven track record in building technology & complex system development.
Experience thinking from first principles and break down complex problems into simple concepts.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Experience with embedded computing and wearable devices.
Direct experience in R&D and shipping consumer electronic hardware.
Expert with 3D design modeling and physical prototyping.
Experience integrating RF technologies such as Wi-Fi, BT, GPS, etc.
Experience leading and driving mechanical design from concept, through design for manufacture, assembly, and test.
Experience in working with JDM partners in the design, manufacture, testing and delivery of next generation hardware solutions.
