Senior Database Administrator (Corporate Information Systems Department) - Remote

Our Lincoln, RI office is seeking a PostgreSQL DBA who will design, implement and maintain databases to ensure the availability and integrity of corporate data in all Database Management Systems (DBMS) on multiple platforms.

This position is eligible for fulltime remote work.

A starting annual salary between $86,047 - $121,272 based on level of previous experience. In addition, hired applicants will be eligible for the company's annual variable incentive paid based on company performance. Additional commission opportunities may apply to customer facing sales and service representatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain PostgreSQL database servers in AWS RDS (Aurora).
  • Design and implement redundancy and HA strategies including read replicas.
  • Conduct performance tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Design and implement backup/restoration strategies per data retention requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues.
  • Maintain database security and auditability.
  • Provide insight to team leadership regarding best practices for PostgreSQL and mentor team members to develop talent.

Qualifications:
  • 5 years working as a database administrator working with PostgreSQL.
  • Expert level SQL, PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
  • Expert level Postgres troubleshooting skills including identifying & resolving blocking, long running queries and other events that negatively impact the database.
  • Knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels.
  • Working knowledge of AWS RDS/Aurora.
  • Desirable to have experience migrating/rewriting views, stored procedures, functions from MSSQL to PostgreSQL.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing other database platforms MSSQL, DB2, MongoDB etc.is a plus.
