Find your future with us.Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an associate Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join our 787 Engineering team in North Charleston, South Carolina.The Mechanical Systems Design Engineer will support the development and documentation of mechanical, fluid, and environmental control system components/assemblies.Position Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains basic mechanical system detail and assembly designs.
Assists with engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, and shop revision requests).
Develops and maintains basic product detail, assembly, and installation designs (e.g., composite ducting, hydraulic tubing, transport element routing and geometry).
Follows documented processes, specifications, and procedures that support the design and manufacture of mechanical, fluid, and environmental control system commodities.
Collects data to support the development of statements of work.
Reviews functional and physical input used in the development of integrated design and system architecture.
Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers.
Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations.
Performs spatial integration at system or component level.
Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems.
Assists in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
Works under general supervision
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, or other technical field of study1+ years of professional experience working in an engineering field1+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) toolsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):1+ years of experience in aerospace related role1+ years of experience working in CATIA V5 & ENOVIA toolsets1+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, procedures, and specifications1+ years of experience in a mechanical system, hydraulic fluid system, and/or environmental controls systems engineering roles1+ years of demonstrated project management skillsTypical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
