Job Summary This position will be responsible for working with residential, commercial and industrial electric customers throughout the Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC) electric service territory. The successful candidate will work with customers and colleagues in the DESC distribution, transmission and generation business units to identify and solve power quality related problems that may result from equipment compatibility challenges, renewable energy integration such as Photovoltaic farms, battery energy storage systems and microgrids. Candidates will possess or be expected to develop the necessary hands-on technical skills required to safely perform field work. Successful candidate will also be required to develop a proficiency in the analysis of field data, single-line electrical drawings, industrial and commercial power and control systems, electric utility energy systems including renewable energy and distributed energy resources. Selected candidate will be responsible for providing and presenting documented recommendations and guidance to internal and external customers regarding the application of power quality mitigation devices and strategies resulting in cost effective solutions and an enhanced customer experience. Position requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs on a frequent basis. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: Engineer I 0-2 years of engineering experience; Electrical Engineering Basic knowledge of engineering concepts, fundamentals and theory. Oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing); Effective decision making skills; Computer skills and application of software programs; Analytical and abstract thinking skills; Problem solving skills; Ability to learn to apply engineering theories and concepts to complex problems; Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices; Ability to develop effective planning, project and organization skills; Ability to develop project management skills and to handle multiple tasks; Ability to work within a team environment. Engineer II 3+ years of relevant engineering experience; Electrical Engineering. Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives. Engineer III 5 or more years of relevant engineering experience; Electrical Engineering. Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives. REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license (Required for an Engineer III Role). Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a postgraduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET.
