Position Summary:As the Human Resources Generalist, you will provide HR support to our production staff (hourly and salaried) in employee relations, staffing, performance management, employee engagement, and other initiatives. This position is a boots-on-the-ground role that will require interaction with employees on and off the production floor.Our ideal candidate is someone who is energetic, driven, and eager to find new ways of improving the employee experience. On a day-to-day basis, this role will balance daily responsibilities while managing employee relations issues as they come up. You must be able to prioritize tasks efficiently and have a bias for action. Ideally, you are able to deliver tough conversations with kindness, while maintaining the integrity of our policies and procedures. You do not back down from a challenge, you welcome it and bring a new perspective to the situation. Accountabilities:Supports HR Manager and Kinston Operations in the execution of strategic initiatives including employee engagement, employee relations, investigations, retention, performance management, staffing, and training and development.Administer HR policies and procedures in partnership with supervisors, managers and other HR staff. Issue Corrective Action for violations of policies and procedures, up to and including terminations.Recommend policies, practices, and programs to meet management and employee needs.Partner with leadership to provide coaching on employee-related issues such as professional development, performance, investigations, and disciplinary action.Maintain knowledge of HR policies and procedures, as well as state and federal labor laws.Processes documents and forms necessary for the implementation of various Human Resources policies programs plan procedures and practices.Plan and coordinate employee events and community events for associates to participate in and build engagement.Learn and implement Lean Manufacturing tools (Daily Management, Problem Solving, TPMs, etc.) into day-to-day HR practices.Audit timekeeping and payroll reports to ensure supervisors have entered time correctly and in accordance with policies and procedures.Support and help administer FMLA, ADA, and Leaves of Absence as necessary.Maintains all necessary records and files to support review and audits.Maintains HRIS system data including entry and reporting.Assist in the management and administration of company benefit programs.Assist the HR department with new hire orientations and benefit orientations.Assist HR Department on other assignments and/or special projects as requested. Ability to travel as needed to other manufacturing locations (about 10% a year).Characteristics & Attributes:Strong ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with all levels of leadership.Maintains a high level of confidentiality and integrity.Takes initiative and has a bias for action and a high sense of urgency.Able to handle multiple tasks and function in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication skills – verbal, written & presentation.Strong customer service orientation; listens to understand.Self-confidence; not afraid to actively voice an opinion.Strong team orientation judgment and problem-solving skillsFlexible; ability to adapt style/approach based on situational dynamics.Ability to work variable hours in support of a multi-shift operation.Work effectively at all levels within the organization.Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:HR Generalist with 5+ years of relevant experience.Experience supporting a manufacturing operation preferred. Experience with WorkDay preferred.Experience conducting complex investigations and taking corrective action when necessary (including terminations).Experience planning and coordinating employee engagement activities.Ability to lead projects with cross-functional groups.Strong skills with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Knowledge of FMLA and ADA laws and regulations.Ability to write and plan communications for a large group of employees.Detail oriented, able to meet deadlines within a short notice, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.Experience with finding ways to improve processes and procedures to make the HR department more efficient and our employees experience better.Education:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources/Business Administration or a related field preferredPHR Certification preferred Organizational Relationship:Reports to HR Manager
