Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines: lathes, grinders, milling machines and drill presses to machine complex metallic parts to exact customer requirement tolerances.Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.

All employees are responsible for upholding all quality requirements that are communicated specific to their departments. This includes following the proper steps for a spill procedure.

All employees are responsible for meeting daily production goals as communicated specific to the department they support.

Set up and operate various CNC machines (two to six axis machinery)

Set up and adjust fixtures, cutting tools, and make tooling offsets on machines.

Follow work instructions, standardized work, and process sheets that is specific to the department supported by the associate.

Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and references points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining

Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required

Use hand-held precision instruments to verify quality: CMM(s), micrometers, calipers, and several gauge types

Makes any adjustments necessary to maintain quality parts within control limits for SPC.

Interpret gear charts and reports and confer with technical team members and leadership or others to resolve machining problems.

Read, understand, and execute internal procedures and policies.

Perform minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.

Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.

Employees are expected to support machining departments and other areas of the facility as necessary to support production needs.

Loading and unloading of CNC machinery or assembly stations.

Packing out finished material into dunnage.

Manually load, unload and/or maneuver materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required.

Act in accordance with BorgWarner’s Beliefs.

Safety, Health, and Physical Requirements:

Stand for long periods of time and frequent walking throughout an eight-hour shift.

Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area in compliance with 5S.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to loading machines, unloading machines, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.

All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus

Education & ExperienceEducation: High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required.Experience: 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred.

Experience in fast paced industrial lean environment

Basic and advanced math skills: familiarity with ratios, proportions, geometry, and trigonometry is a plus

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge.
