Mechanical Engineer

SUMMARY:The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and execution of projects in the areas of manufacturing equipment, packaging optimization and improvement, facility, and utility projects, troubleshooting and investigation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in related field.
  • Proficient experience with 2D AutoCAD.
  • Engineering documentation expertise (e.g., layouts, P&IDs, flow diagrams, user requirement specifications functional specifications, design specifications and protocols).
  • Able to apply technical knowledge, creativity, and company practices to obtain solutions to complex problems while meeting project timelines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and provide individual contribution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time constraints and schedule changes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply written procedures and standards governing manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal / national statutes and guidelines
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and able to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of maintaining strong relationships.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and customer/quality focus.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Knowledge of cGMPs, FDA, UL, SQF and BRC Audit requirements is a plus.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, & Servo Systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS, Visio is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Certification at some level is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel when necessary.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, manage and maintain drawings for all projects, production equipment and plant utility systems.
  • Prepare, Modify and manage 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings.
  • Maintain, organize and file accurate facility and equipment layouts.
  • Ensure design is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner consistent with company standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop mechanical project plans, cost, timelines and identify proper vendors to support the identified project.
  • Provide mechanical assistance for the engineering, integration and operational efficiency of new equipment and facility/utility systems.
  • Review and analyze new and existing production equipment systems including describing, illustrating, and evaluating systems, identifying limiting components and determining costs and benefits to process improvement changes.
  • Review’s vendor/business partner drawings/quotes for clarity/comprehensiveness; resolving related discrepancies/issues.
  • Interact frequently with operations, QA, QC, validation, maintenance and general facility personnel to drive best solutions and ideas.

  • Assists during the development of new products to provide a commercial operations perspective to line design and development of new products.
  • Provides input on selection of equipment and technologies to support plant processes.
  • Support test runs, validation runs, engineering runs, and any other requirements as needed during the manufacturing work hours as applicable (be available “on call” for after hours).
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
