Network Administrator for a project 100% on site in Columbia, SC. Candidates must be s to meet the requirements of the grant related to this scope of work. This position is not open C2C.

Scope of the project:
  • This Network Administrator is responsible for fully supporting, installing, configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and documenting enterprise network and telephone infrastructure and unified computing system. This includes all enterprise network and telephone devices in accordance with operational policies and directives.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex network and telephone issues. Duty requires the ability to perform field duties, on-call rotation, ask probing questions, work independently and collaboratively, use good judgement, critical thinking, verbal/written communications, and must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.

Daily duties and responsibilities:
  • Administering systems for wired and wireless infrastructure, access layer, and telephone services, to include voice, voicemail, conference bridge, safety devices, 911 location, call centers, wired and wireless access points and switching, VPN. Provide exceptional customer service and professional interaction, technical notes, documentation, and knowledge base articles using ticketing and asset management tools while bolstering our operational credibility. Perform and document configuration tests as specified by the network and telephony architecture team.
  • Configure and install network, security, and telephone devices, to include access points, switches, firewalls, media gateways, telephones, safety devices, etc., specified by the systems architecture and design members. Document standard, process, configurations, and perform tests. Perform surveys of existing and new network, security, and telephone infrastructure in support of the systems architecture and design members.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing network and telephone devices, to include access points, switches, firewalls, media gateways, telephones, safety devices, etc., to ensure optimal performance and long-term efficiency of network and telephone service. Work collaboratively with team members, other groups, and vendors to increase service quality and proactivity and to decrease outage time and reactivity.
  • Monitor network and telephony systems, proactively responds to problems to ensure high availability and limited downtime. Follow departmental processes for outage notification, change management, and asset and inventory management. Maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, and procedures, ensuring accuracy as changes are made.

Required education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, and 2-4 years of experience, or equivalency

Preferred skills:
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills.
  • Requires the ability to troubleshoot complex network and telephone technical problems and interpret complex technical data and documents.
  • Must possess the ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, and work as an effective team member.
  • Occasional work after hours in an “On Call” capacity is required.
