DescriptionPurposeIntroduction to administrative, technical, and management techniques to ensure the successful and timely completion of multiple surveying projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Direction

Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes.

At the Operational and Company Level

Interact with multiple departments and peers within the organization and participate in intern program learning and development opportunities. 

Do the Work

Aid in communication with clients, contractors, field personnel, engineering and planning staff on survey matters.

Assist in preparation of all types of survey plats and base maps including title, boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys.

Help prepare and check computations for construction stakeout and prepare cut-sheets.

Prepare corrections for submitted maps, plans, and legal descriptions.

Perform research for land surveying deliverables.

Maintain survey related records, notes, maps, and other pertinent documents.

Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules and report project status.

Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases or other legal documents.

Assist in equipment maintenance, including robotic total stations, global positioning systems, data collection devices, and point processing software.

Assist survey crew with various field land surveying activities, including monument reconnaissance, monument preservation, monument resets, construction staking, topographic surveying, etc.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure/Certifications, and Technical Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.

Enrolled in a college degree program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field, and/or Associate’s degree or certification program in Land Surveying.

Must be at least 18 years old.

At least one (1) year of practical work experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Partly indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

Mobility around an office environment.

Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.

Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.

Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.

Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.

Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.

Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
