Electrical Engineering Intern - Building Engineering (Nov 2026)

Join our Building Engineering team, where we collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver sustainable, high-performing projects across sectors including Defence, Aviation, Commercial, Healthcare, and Transport. You'll contribute to the design of low voltage power systems, utilities, standby generation, UPS, lighting, fire alarms, security, and other resilient electrical infrastructure. Many of our projects involve essential and mission-critical systems, giving you the opportunity to develop innovative resilience solutions for our clients.You will also have the opportunity to support the design of hyperscale and enterprise data centres, contributing to high-reliability electrical infrastructure, including grid-to-IT architectures, redundant power systems, and mission-critical environments operating 24/7.How you’ll make a difference:Support the design of electrical and lighting systems while adhering to relevant standards across various market sectors, including mission-critical and data centre facilities.Assist with tasks such as lighting calculations, load assessments, circuit protection design, and curve coordination, with exposure to data centre load modelling, diversity factors, and IT load / PUE assumptions.Help develop single line diagrams, layout drawings, and other documentation to aid in the design process including high-level electrical architectures for data centres (grid connection through to distribution at data hall level).Collaborate with other disciplines, including Architecture and Structural Engineering, to contribute to integrated solutions supporting coordinated design of data halls, plant areas, and utility corridors within campus-scale developments.Support the development of design basis assumptions for critical systems, including redundancy strategies (e.g. N, N+1, 2N), standby generation, UPS configurations, and resilient power distribution.What Our Summer Internship Program Offers12-week paid internship (mid-November to mid-February)Real project experience: Contribute to meaningful work and apply your university learning to real-world projects from day one.Exposure to iconic projects: Be part of projects that help shape communities, cities and infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand.AECOM Summer Series: Connect with senior leaders from across our business through an exclusive program of presentations providing insight into different career pathways and areas of expertise.Work alongside technical experts: Work alongside graduates, technical experts, and industry leaders.Be part of a global business: Experience the benefits of working for a global consultancy, with opportunities to collaborate across teams, markets and geographies.Pathway to graduate employment: Successful interns may be considered for future graduate opportunities, providing a direct pathway into AECOM's Graduate Program.
