Performs and reports all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy and obtains blood or other body fluid from patients.

Operates computer equipment and software programs relative to performance of essential job functions and other laboratory related requirements.

Records all required quality control results.

Maintains, calibrates, and repairs equipment with accurate records of services.

Performs all duties and responsibilities as outlined in regulations.

Maintains and appropriate inventory of supplies in the assigned area. Prepares reagents or media in prescribed manner.

Participates in the evaluation of new procedures, equipment and methods.

Set up cultures, read gram stains, and perform rapid kit testing in Microbiology.

Following established standard work practices and using established safety precautions, collects blood specimens utilizing the appropriate venipuncture, capillary fingerstick or heelstick technique with patients of all age groups including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

Accurately identifies patients prior to collection of specimens using two patient identifiers and accurately labeling the specimens in the presence of the patient as established by laboratory policy.

Required Minimum Position Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field of study.Position also requires demonstrated experience in the following:

MT (ASCP) or CLS (NCA) certification or certification eligible
