Substance Abuse Counselor

Role and Responsibilities:

Uphold Balance Foundation Incculture ,mission and vision.

Obtain/Maintain appropriate certification/training.

Understand and maintain confidentiality as defined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

Provide comprehensive, integrated program services, within scope of practice, to target populations within our organization. This includes emergent issues, ongoing issues, continuity of services, contingency planning, future planning.

Provide recovery oriented, co-occurring capable, stage matched interventions throughout each of the following services to individuals:

Assessment and Diagnostic interviews.

Individual, family, or group therapy.

Education.

Crisis Management.

Case Management.

Alcohol/Drug testing (Urine Analysis, Breathalyzers, etc.).

Discharge and Referrals.

Follow up services as necessary.

Prepare, review and submit required documentation throughout the treatment process for each individual.

Maintain working relationships with local referral sources and community agencies.

Participate in staff meetings concerning clients and program policies.

Work closely with all staff to establish and maintain a welcoming environment that enhances the strengths of each client.

Assist in establishing and maintaining good relations with civic, professional, governmental entities, and the community in general by having an active interest in community affairs.

Provide case consultation, training, education, processing and debriefing to team members as appropriate within identified scope of practice.

Document each incident to include attendance, summary of discussion, and plan of implementation.

Other duties as assigned.
