CereCore is seeking an Application Engineer - Senior Level to join our team in Brentwood,TN. This individual will work at one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services, HCA Healthcare.

Overview: The Senior Application Engineer is a part of the Data Operations team within the Physician Services Group organization of HCA. This technically-focused position with the Data Ops team is responsible for designing, developing, testing and deploying our data operations solutions across the enterprise. This goal will be achieved by working with cross-functional business teams and utilizing database platforms and automation tools. The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for application creation, administrative tasks, process improvement and supporting data operations solutions development at PSG.

The Senior Application Engineer will collaborate with Business Customers, Department Heads, and Project teams, provide leadership regarding application design, as well as support and develop subject matter knowledge for internally developed applications. The Senior Application Engineer will ensure the effective design, build, deployment, documentation and maintenance of processes against relational databases and other applicable data sources.

In this role you will be responsible for automation scripting of data processes working mainly with EMR data and EMR data processes. On a day to day basis you will do a lot of SQL scripting, Powershell, and utilizing other scripting languages as well - whatever fits the best - to automate. There are a lot of automation opportunities to script various EMR processes and try to solve problems for business users with automation. This team is data and operational focused - they do not do reporting/report writing. In addition to automation of data operations, this team also does lot of moving data around, onboarding new providers and their data onto the EMR and offboarding of providers and their data.

This position is pretty heavy SQL development - stored procs, functions, MS Suite using SQL server, developing scripts and coding in syntax. Powershell is another big one - using Powershell for automating a process. Python can be used in a lot of valuable ways by this team too. Ideal candidates have good automation scripting skills across a few languages.

Position Requirements:
  • 3-5+ years of combined experience with automation scripting using SQL, Powershell and Python or other languages
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a data operations type environment
  • Experience working with Healthcare data, EMR data preferred.
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Powershell, Python, UNIX shell scripting, or others
  • Extensive experience in MSSQL or extensive experience in other ANSI SQL languages (e.g., MSSQL, Oracle, Postgres, Teradata) required.
  • Specific expertise/experience in data acquisition, data cleansing and parsing required.
  • Specific expertise/experience in data analysis required.
  • Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, or other DBMS.
  • Specific expertise/experience in the areas of data structures.
  • Strong analytical and design skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works to build technical knowledge by taking advantage of internal team mentoring and attending professional development opportunities.
  • Creates situationally-appropriate strategies and tactics to arbitrate, mediate, or reconcile conflicts or resistance to change.
  • Lead and manage multiple project tasks at a time.
  • Lead troubleshooting activities to resolution.
  • Works on unique and unusually complex projects.
  • Ability to work with little supervision in a Lean environment.
  • Self-driven learner of technology and programming.
  • Acts as a mentor and provides direction to colleagues with less experience.
  • Specific expertise/experience with ETL tools such as Teradata Protocol Transport, SSIS, and SyncSort DMExpress.
  • Specific expertise/experience in data warehousing.
  • Knowledge of EMR or Practice Management Systems such as E-Clinical Works, Epic, Cerner, Experity, etc.
  • Seasoned data professional and subject matter expert with a full understanding of data tools and concepts; ability to resolve a wide range of highly-complex issues in creative ways.
  • Experience leading agile teams, teaching and mentoring. Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
